Hora Batua
Product Sprint @ Hora.AI
Letsβs start with the overview, shall we?
The project was a quick four-week sprint. The business team wanted to release a product that would gravitate the young, working-class audience towards a fast and easy way of managing their transactions.
The app was to be released as a beta version to test the data science models by categorizing all the transactions as income and expenses. It was also briefed to include marketing the main loan-lending application released by the startup.

Research
User Surveys
Due to time constraints, extensive user research could not be conducted to thoroughly understand what people require. As a quick exercise, I sent an online survey to my teammates, family, and friends to get a glimpse of their current behaviour and requirements.

Wireframes
After sketching and brainstorming on the must have and should have features, I created low-fidelity wireframes to visualise the user flow from transactions to budgeting.
User Flow
User Feedback
Adding a transaction was tedious - Not all transactions could be read via SMS and were manually entered. The user was still not motivated to write them down, especially because it was time-consuming.
The graphs were too intimidating - The graphs under the monthly tab were not self-explanatory as the user was not highly-educated to understand the different types of graphs by himself.
A clear indication of expenses - The user was not able to understand his total expenses and income leading to an inaccurate budgeting experience.
Onboarding
Easy to understand onboarding instructions to make it useful before the user starts using the mobile app.
Transactions - Daily, Weekly, Monthly
Once a user has been onboarded, their homepage is divided into daily, weekly, and monthly tabs, showing their transactions in a chronological manner.
After user testing and realising that graphs look too intimidating, I decided to highlight information that the user will relate to most like highest spent category, income and expense.
Add a Transaction via Voice Enabled Chat
In the final iteration, users can add a transaction through a voice enabled chat, where they only have to answer 3 questions for it to automatically categorize the transaction.
Setting a Budget
Budgeting includes setting aside some savings and dividing the expenses between fixed and other expenses.
Setting a Budget
A gullak or a piggy bank is a feature relatable to most Indians and creates nostalgia. The idea behind the Gullak is to encourage savings through a familiar concept.
Hora Cash Marketing: Insert marketing banners for the main loan application at an emotional touch-point, nudging the user to download the app.
User Profile
Tracking userβs performance on a weekly and monthly basis, helps them track their spending behaviour.
Future Scope: Adding financial tips through videos and articles to create awareness about managing expenses and budgeting.
